Another Privacy Bill Pending in California
California legislators are considering another privacy bill to complement SB 1, the financial privacy bill that Governor Gray Davis recently signed into law. The new bill, called Shine the Light, would force force companies to disclose what personal information they sell to other marketers. It has already passed the state Senate, but was voted down by the Assembly in late August. The bill's sponsor, State Sen. Liz Figueroa, (D-Fremont) amended the bill significantly and hopes the it will pass when the Assembly reconsiders the bill on Monday.
