Judge Dismisses Suit of Passengers Claiming Jet Blue Violated Privacy Policy
Consumers have little recourse when their personal information is divulged, privacy advocates said after a judge tossed out the complaints of JetBlue passengers who claimed the company violated its own privacy policy. JetBlue voluntarily released passengers' names, addresses and phone numbers to a federal Defense Department contractor studying military base security in 2002. Contractors then merged the information with other databases to include Social Security numbers, occupation, number of adults and children in the family and whether the passenger owned or rented a home.
